How many glasses in a bottle of wine
A 750 ml bottle is 25.4 oz. At a 5 oz pour that's five glasses with a splash left; at 6 oz it's four with a little over; at 8 oz, three. Most bars don't get the full count: tastes for guests, the last inch of sediment, and the bottle that went off before it sold all come out of the same 25 ounces. That is what the lost per bottle box is for.
Glasses = (Bottle oz − Lost oz) ÷ Pour oz
Cost per glass = Bottle cost ÷ Glasses
Price for target = Cost per glass ÷ Target %
A common rule of thumb is to price a glass near what you paid for the bottle, so the first glass covers it. The calculator shows you what that works out to in pour cost, so you can decide.
